Japan Triples Departure Tax and Raises Visa Fees to Manage Tourism Surge
Japan has tripled its departure tax to 3,000 yen and increased foreign visitor visa fees fivefold, effective from Wednesday, to manage overtourism and fund infrastructure improvements. Domestic passport fees were reduced.
