British alpinist Fay Manners makes Eiger history by opening first new route led by a woman
British alpinist Fay Manners has become the first British woman to establish a new climbing route on the Eiger North Face. Working with Swiss partner Roger Schaeli, she spent 13 days creating the 900-metre Solar Eclipse route, breaking ground in a traditionally male-dominated sport.
