Foreign Divorce Has No Legal Standing for Filipino Citizens, Justice Department Clarifies
The Philippine Department of Justice has reiterated that Filipino citizens who obtain divorces outside the country remain legally married under Philippine law. Only legal separation or annulment can dissolve marriages for Philippine citizens.
