In a decision handed down at the Putrajaya courthouse, the Court of Appeal extended a deadline permitting prosecutors to personally deliver a notice of appeal to former political research assistant Muhammed Yusoff Rawther. The extension was necessary before the court could consider the state's bid to overturn his acquittal in the drug trafficking and imitation firearms matter.

Yusoff Rawther had previously been cleared of charges related to drug offences and unauthorised firearms possession. However, the prosecution has since mounted a challenge to the acquittal and sought to proceed with its appeal.

The requirement to serve the notice personally is a procedural step that must be completed within the timeframe now set by the appellate bench. Once this formal notification has been delivered to the respondent, the prosecution will be in a position to advance its case before the court.
