Barisan Nasional will not be deterred by the emergence of new political parties in the country, according to coalition secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir. Speaking in Tanjung Malim, he expressed confidence that such developments would have minimal bearing on BN's performance in the forthcoming Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections.
Zambry outlined that the coalition has undertaken extensive preparations for both contests and remains steadfast in implementing its electoral strategy. While acknowledging the right of citizens to form new political movements in a democratic system, he stressed that BN would proceed with its planned approach unchanged.
Parti Wawasan Negara and Parti Bersama Malaysia (BERSAMA) have recently entered the political landscape, prompting questions about their potential impact on BN's fortunes. However, Zambry dismissed such concerns, citing the groundwork already completed by Johor UMNO and the broader coalition infrastructure.
"Johor UMNO and BN have prepared extensively, and I believe the formation of a new party will have no impact on BN, based on the efforts and preparations that have already been set in motion," he stated.
The Johor state election is scheduled for July 11, while Negeri Sembilan voters will head to polling stations on August 1. Zambry made his remarks while launching the pilot programme for the National Service Training Programme (PLKN) 3.0 at public universities.
