Marine Police Region Three successfully disrupted what appears to be an illicit fuel operation on June 14, recovering 5,150 litres of diesel during an enforcement operation at a premises in Hulu Jabung, Terengganu.
The enforcement team detained a 55-year-old man found at the location during the raid. Authorities are conducting further investigations to determine the full scope of the suspected smuggling network and identify any additional parties involved in the operation.
The seizure highlights ongoing challenges with illegal fuel distribution in the region. Marine Police units have intensified surveillance and intelligence-gathering efforts to combat trafficking of controlled petroleum products, which represent significant revenue losses and pose public safety concerns.
Officials indicated that the investigation is progressing and more information regarding the source and intended distribution channels of the confiscated diesel would be released as the case develops. The suspect remains under detention pending further inquiries.
