Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has urged the government and citizens to concentrate on attracting foreign investment in artificial intelligence and quantum computing technology rather than becoming mired in political friction, during an address at the PH Grand Rally 'Justice for the People of Johor' in Muar on June 15.
During his speech, Anwar highlighted that Malaysia's competitiveness and prosperity depend on embracing cutting-edge technologies. He noted that recent efforts to bring AI infrastructure and data centers to the country, coupled with exploration of quantum computing capabilities during his Japan visit, demonstrate the government's commitment to this vision. These investments, he argued, will secure a prosperous future for the younger generation.
Anwar criticised the tendency of politicians to engage in endless disputes over religious and cultural sensitivities, questioning when such distractions would end so that genuine nation-building could commence. He stressed that Malaysia already commands international attention, with investors approaching the country without extensive promotional campaigns needed.
Calling for unity across all communities, Anwar appealed to Malaysians—regardless of ethnicity—to work collectively to elevate the nation's standing. He expressed confidence that such cooperation was achievable and would benefit all citizens. The event was attended by PKR Vice-President Datuk Seri Dr. Zaliha Mustafa and Johor PH Chairman Aminolhuda Hassan.
As PKR President and PH Chairman, Anwar also cautioned political leaders and parties against exploiting divisive sentiments. He urged them to focus instead on genuine solutions to citizens' concerns and to consider the long-term implications of their rhetoric on national development.
