Hamas announced on Sunday that it has formally submitted a coordinated response from Palestinian factions to the peace framework presented by UN special coordinator Nickolay Mladenov, emphasising the requirement for Israel to completely withdraw from the Gaza Strip.

Mladenov's 15-point roadmap, introduced on May 21, builds on proposals originally outlined by US President Donald Trump. The plan addresses key reconstruction challenges, weapons disarmament, military pullout procedures, deployment of international security forces, and restoration of local law enforcement capabilities.

According to Hamas, delegates from Palestinian factions and mediating nations—Egypt, Qatar and Turkiye—spent the past week in Cairo finalising a shared position. The response underscores that Palestinian groups have approached the roadmap "with a high degree of responsibility and positivity", particularly regarding humanitarian protocols and ending all attacks targeting Palestinians in Gaza.

The organisation emphasised critical provisions including the formation of an administrative body and Israel's complete departure from the territory. Hamas noted its delegation would maintain discussions with intermediaries and fellow factions to advance implementation of agreed points.

The broader peace framework—announced by Trump in September 2025—encompasses a 20-point ceasefire structure involving release of Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian detainees, territorial withdrawal, technocratic governance, international peacekeeping deployment, and Hamas disarmament. The initial phase covers a truce and prisoner exchanges, while subsequent phases involve further Israeli pullbacks and international stabilisation operations supporting humanitarian deliveries and infrastructure restoration. However, reports indicate Israel has breached the agreement repeatedly.

Since the conflict began in October 2023, Palestinian authorities report nearly 73,000 deaths and more than 173,000 injuries, predominantly affecting women and children.
