Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim revealed a substantial boost in financial backing for Bumiputera enterprises, with government-linked investment companies (GLICs) pledging RM2 billion in fresh capital for 2026.
The increased allocation represents a marked step-up from the RM1.3 billion committed during the previous year, signalling stronger support for locally-owned businesses across the nation. The move aligns with ongoing efforts to strengthen the role of Bumiputera firms within Malaysia's economic landscape.
The announcement underscores the government's commitment to channelling institutional investment toward enterprises controlled by indigenous Malays and other indigenous groups. This enhanced funding mechanism through GLICs aims to foster business growth and competitiveness within the Bumiputera sector.
